Striker

A dynamic left-footed striker with a well-rounded skill set. He excels at holding up the ball, using his physical strength to shield it, and enjoys dropping deep to receive possession. His excellent technical passing range allows him to link up play effectively, while his explosive running and quick feet make him a constant threat in transition, carrying the ball upfield with ease. He is also adept at making runs in behind, utilizing his speed and power to beat defenders to through balls. His intelligent movements create space for himself and his teammates. A clinical finisher both inside and outside the box, he is equally comfortable scoring with either foot. Particularly adept at losing his marker in the box to create goal-scoring opportunities. Off the ball, he is a tireless worker, leading the press and tracking back when required.

Jessy has been attending various Arsenal in the Community projects since the age of about 6 years old. For the past few years he has attended our Football Plus / community team training at Highgate Wood School and the Arsenal Hub. During this time Jessy has shown that he is a very dedicated individual who is keen to develop and play at the highest level he can. He is an excellent learner and a very good team member, with a good attitude. Jessy is quite quiet by nature but has grown in confidence with age and will speak up and communicate with team
mates when necessary.

He is physically strong and quick with and without the ball. He is also versatile and happy to play in different positions when called upon. He will train in his own time away from his teammates and coaches to improve his fitness and technical ability. He has a good understanding of the game and wants to progress.

I would describe Jessy as being very coachable, he always keen to learn and develop his game.
— James Wornock - Arsenal Football Development Manager
I have been coaching Jessy Fryer as part of the Arsenal Community Football Plus programme for the last 2 nearly 3 seasons. Jessy has proven himself to be one of the most vital players in the entire squad. This is due to consistently showing on the pitch a strong athletic ability, not just in possession, but also out of possession too. He also has exquisite technical ability on the
ball and a remarkable left foot, he strikes the ball with an almost surgical precision at times and although he, like most young number 10’s or central midfielders still needs to improve by
adding and understanding tactical concepts and responsibilities to his game. He will no doubt develop into a fantastic senior player due to his strongest attributes, his personality, love for the game, and his coachability.
— Greame Hawkins - Head U16’s Arsenal Football Development Coach
Jessy has studied at Portland Place School since he was in Year 7 and has always been one of the best all-round sports performers in his year group. He is particularly strong in football and has developed into a superb attacking player, possessing an excellent first touch, good size and pace as well as great vision, awareness and movement. He has consistently represented the school with distinction in all sports we play at inter-school and house level, including football, rugby, basketball and athletics. He has been commended at the end of nearly every term with certificates in recognition of his effort and attainment. He has always displayed an extremely positive attitude in Physical Education and sport and is very competitive; able to cooperate successfully with his teammates, as well as take control and influence play more heavily. In football, Jessy is able to dominate play and consistently effect the game to the advantage of his team.

His excellent tactical play is supported by his strong spatial awareness and decision making. He has very good all-round athletic ability and coordination, possessing strong sprinting ability and power, as well as a very good level of cardiovascular endurance. Possibly his greatest asset is his attitude; he is a committed footballer, determined to achieve his full potential and possesses tremendous drive and resilience. Jessy has a great deal of potential and I am confident that he will make significant progress in football over the next few years.

In recent years Jessy was honoured to be selected for the Arsenal Rocky 7 Project, and was one of just seven young people chosen from various parts of the Arsenal set-up to be given
the opportunity to develop themselves in roles within the club. Jessy assisted his mentor (James Warnock - Head of Arsenal Development) in coaching U11-12 Arsenal Summer Camp.
— Scott Rider - Head of Physical Education at Jessy Secondary School
